Life Members
Life Memberships are awarded to honour a major contribution to the club over an extended period of time, with a maximum of two in any one year. A number of people have contributed above and beyond to the club and have been awarded with life membership:

The Birkie Award (2021 - )
The club’s Birkie Award is awarded annually for outstanding service and commitment to club programs & events.
The member’s name and the year the award was received is engraved on the perpetual shield, which is displayed in the clubhouse. The member will also receive a framed certificate.
The award is presented at one of the club’s social functions held during the season.
- 2022 - Rob Boland - Kangaroo Hoppet, Search & Rescue, Clubhouse & Race Hut construction.
- 2023 - Peter Smith - Clubhouse Manager, Skidoo Steward, Birkie Junior Program/Camp, Race Committee & Race Hut Communications.
- 2024 - Jeanette McLaren - for outstanding service and commitment to BNSC club programs & events over many decades. (Treasurer, Governance, Club House, Ski de Femme & Kangaroo Hoppet Set Up.

2025 - Ewen Silvester - for his outstanding servive and commentment to club programs & events.

Ian Ryan Award (2001–2019)
In 2000 the Club decided to present a Club Award each year to a ‘Quiet Achiever’, ‘Best Club Person’ or the ‘Best Volunteer’. It was to be called the Ian Ryan Award in memory of Club member Ian Ryan who tragically died at the end of the 1999 Kangaroo Hoppet. The award is to a Club member who has worked hard behind the scenes to make sure programs and activities are provided to other Club members.
